Cookery shows are some of the most popular series on TV, but how many of them feature regular cameo appearances from the chef’s dogs, horses, goats, ducks, chickens, guinea fowl, and alpacas? Just one: brand new ITV weekend daytime series, Nisha Katona’s Home Kitchen!
In her deliciously warm and entertaining new show, produced by STV Studios Entertainment, award-winning restaurateur and TV personality, Nisha Katona, is inviting viewers into her family home in the stunning Wirral countryside for the very first time.
Each week, Nisha will open up her gorgeous outdoor kitchen and share her love of hearty food with big flavours that can be easily prepared at home. She’ll cook a vast range of mouthwatering dishes from all around the world, with many inspired by the Indian and Hungarian roots that run through her family.
Each episode will see Nisha surrounded by a cheerful community of local suppliers who share her passion for homegrown produce and help her get her delectable dishes onto the dinner table.
And the table is always full in the Katona household, with Nisha’s family and friends – even four-legged ones – never far away. Nisha shares her home with her family and their three dogs, four horses, four goats and assorted ducks, chickens, guinea fowl and alpacas. None of the animals are camera shy, so viewers can expect to see them popping their heads, hooves and beaks in throughout the series…
On the menu in the first episode of Nisha Katona’s Home Kitchen is a classic chicken dhansak, unique green bean and mango dal bunny chow, and a Hungarian family favourite: layered cabbage with paprika pork mince.
Born and raised in West Lancashire, Nisha Katona worked as a child protection barrister for 20 years, before becoming the founder and CEO of Mowgli Street Food restaurants in 2014. She’s since become one of the biggest names in the British culinary scene and a TV favourite as a resident chef on ITV’s This Morning and, until last year, a judge on BBC cookery game show, Great British Menu.
Nisha Katona’s Home Kitchen launches on ITV, ITVX, STV and STV Player at 11:40am on Saturday 8 February.
